Is a Wealth Manager Worth It?

You are a wealth manager.

What you do with your wealth is your responsibility.

You have to choose to spend it upon the most important of things first, then the next most important and then the next, in that manner.

But what if we have surplus wealth, how should we invest it?

Should we give it to someone else to do that for us?

Is a Wealth Manager Worth It?

In The Name of God, The Most Merciful, The Ever-Merciful to His believing servants.

All praise belongs to God, may He extol His Messenger in the highest company of the Angels and grant him peace, his family, companions and whoever follows guidance until the Day of Judgement.

To proceed,

We came into this world alone and we will leave it alone.

All that remains from the time for our actions is between these two.

To prepare ourselves best for our life and what comes after, let’s look at how we use our wealth – yes, it is important.

The wealth we have been given is a blessing that is there for us to use to help us act upon the knowledge we have been given.

Correct action upon authentic knowledge is the path of success and the wealth we have been given is just a means to help us upon that journey.

Naturally, we can see from the above that our time is very limited.

One of the ways of benefitting from our wealth is that we give it to someone else who has knowledge and ability we don’t have in order that they use it upon beneficial practices.

But before we can look into this, we must be certain that such a person is in fact able and trustworthy enough, for us to entrust, with what we have been given of wealth.

So how do we do that?

Ask

The answer for the one who does not have knowledge is to ask.

The most important affair to ask about is the affair of our Creator.

The Giver of Life and Death, The One Who does whatever He wills.

Surely spending wealth without knowing what pleases Him or angers Him, is futile.

How can we spend wealth in ways that displease the Creator, when it belongs to Him and to Him we are going to return?

He is The One, The Irresistible, The Possessor of Great Bounty.

He is The One Who has given us whatever of wealth we have right now, and He is The Inheritor.

The Originator and Maintainer of all the ways and means, The Clear and Manifest One, The Truth.

If we spend whatever we have to please Him, he will grant us manifest increase – even if our wealth is little.

But, if we spend it instead on what displeases HIm, then it will be for us regret and steps towards our own destruction unless He showers us with His mercy.

Have we not seen that God creates from the plants and the crops those exceeding others, though they are watered by way of the same clouds and fed by way of the same soil.

Is not The One Who does all that, More Knowing of how we should spend?

The People of Knowledge

And We did not send before you (O Muḥammad) except men to whom We revealed (scripture), so ask the people of the remembrance if you do not know.

The Noble Qur’an 21:7

We are born not knowing anything and many don’t learn.

We have to ask to learn, but who?

The people of knowledge.

From the blessings of the All-Mighty, The All-Wise upon us is that he has preserved for us until this day of ours, people of knowledge who have inherited the knowledge which He, The Blessed and Most High, sent down to the finality of His Prophets and Messengers.

You have been created to please your Creator Who is not in need of you; The First, The Last, The Provider, The Rich, Free of All Needs.

Your heart has a desperate need for this knowledge, for this light by way of which you may see the truth and navigate yourself among mankind to the paths of peace, by The Lord’s Permission.

Going to these individuals, the trustworthy, upright scholars upon the religion of Abraham is upon you, O seeker of the truth.

They will teach you, by God’s Permission, those affairs that are most pleasing to your Creator (that you worship none but Him alone – Monotheism) and those affairs which are most displeasing to your Creator (disbelief [to cover His clear favours upon you] and polytheism [to direct the gratitude He deserves {worship} to other than Him])

Remember, that the wealth you have been granted is a trust, it is not yours forever nor will it make you remain in this world forever.

Use it upon the most important of affairs and depend for your worldly affairs upon The Trustworthy Disposer of Affairs – is He not more Knowing of how to direct them than us?

Spend

You have been provided for your entire life and you have not needed to create your provision.

God is The Provider, Who creates for us our provision, by ways and means He is Most Knowledgable regarding.

The person of intellect then, places his trust and reliance upon The Trustworthy Disposer of Affairs, turning their heart to him, realising that what they have been given of knowledge is little and their Lord’s mercy encompasses all things, and He is swift in punishment.

Turning the heart to the Lord, acknowledging our poverty before Him and how desperate and needy we are of His granting us success in this world and His moving the creation around us in ways that aid us upon His religion and not upon the ways that displease him, lest we let ourselves be fooled and become a people upon whom destruction is justified.

We then act, with a heart turned to its Originator, upon the most important of affairs first, the pillars of submission to Him, establishing them, leaving off distractions and misplaced emotions.

There may arise within a person at these times, feelings or doubts that call one to actions other than this, did you think that you would not be tested?

Despite these feeling the person of intellect continues upon what pleases The Creator and seeks from Him the purification of his self, surroundings and wealth.

Whoever fears Him – He will grant for him a way out, make easy for him his affair and provide for him from ways he could not imagine.

However, for the one who has been beguiled and turns their heart instead to the ways and means, the tiring actions, instead of The Lord, The Most High, then for them is a life of restriction and they will be left to their weak, insignificant actions – in darkness, with a heart of poverty no matter what surrounds them.

Spend, O slave of God! There does not remain much of your life, and the hereafter is better and more lasting.

Moving Forward

We hope that at this point you will have taken an admonition and have submitted to The Lord of The Worlds or wish to be pointed in that direction – for the latter, read How To Become a Muslim.

For those who have submitted, welcome to the path of The All-Mighty, The All-Praiseworthy.

Now that you have submitted and set a beneficial routine of sitting oneself at the feet of the trustworthy Orthodox Scholars, the concerns about your wealth will naturally have begun to fall away.

God, The Blessed and Most High, The One Who Guides, has subjected to you what is in the heavens and the earth for you to use to establish His religion.

Knowledge, Air, Water, Food, Housing, Marriage, Companionship, Community… from all of these are things which are helpful and those which are harmful.

The One Who has placed in your heart the light of faith has permitted to you the best of what surrounds you of fortresses, weapons and soldiers to fortify yourself with and protect you from the ways that earn His displeasure, the chief deceiver and his army.

God, The Bestower, is Near to His servants, He is The One who answers the slave when he calls upon Him.

If you use what He has granted you to please Him, then He will give you more, and He is One Who grants manifold increase to whom He wills, The One Who puts forward whatever He wills.

Soon there will come to you a day that you cannot avoid, where upon your soul will be taken – that soul which is taken every night when you sleep – but this time you will not return to the abode of deeds.

If you protected and sought increase in your faith then you will increase in peace and ease in this life and upon being relieved of your station, will be plunged into immediate bliss and happiness.

Is the recompense for good anything but good?

All praise and thanks belong to God, The Lord of The Worlds, may He extol His Messenger in the highest company of the Angels and grant him peace, his family and companions altogether.
